Tameside Primary Academy celebrated a successful fundraising effort in support of World Mental Health Day, raising £242 for the charity Young Minds. The event encouraged pupils and staff to wear yellow in support of mental health awareness, resilience and wellbeing.
World Mental Health Day, observed annually in October, aims to highlight the importance of mental health and reduce stigma around discussing it. Schools across the country often take part in initiatives during this time to educate children and support charities that provide vital services for young people.
At Tameside, classrooms and corridors were awash with bright yellow, while families contributed generously to the fundraising effort. The Academy praised staff, pupils and families for their enthusiasm and commitment to the cause.
Cem Yalluri, Associate Principal at Tameside Primary Academy, commented: “We are incredibly proud of our school community for embracing Hello Yellow Day with such energy and positivity. It’s so heartening to see everyone come together to support mental health and make a real difference. Every donation counts and the money raised will go towards helping young people access the support they need.”
The funds were donated directly to Young Minds, which provides advice, support, and resources to young people facing mental health challenges.
Tameside Primary Academy looks forward to future fundraising initiatives and continuing to support projects that benefit the wellbeing of its pupils and the wider community.
