We aim to do this by engaging all children in a wide variety of sports to develop their physical skills in a range of situations, including agility, balance and co-ordination, as well as communication skills, teamwork, leadership, resilience, determination, the ability to think strategically in competitive situations, and to develop their self-belief and self-awareness.
At our Academy, we spend a minimum of 2 hours per week on curriculum P.E.
We also provide bespoke opportunities, such as outdoor adventurous activities and swimming. Within swimming, the aim is for children to leave Year 6 being able to swim competently and confidently over a distance of at least 25 metres, using a range of strokes effectively [E.g. front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke], and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
Across the academic year, there are a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities for children to take part in, both at lunch time and after-school. Throughout the academic year, children have the opportunity to take part in competitions at both an intra- and inter-school level.
