Children’s safety, happiness and welfare is something that is our duty to protect; at Tameside Primary Academy the wellbeing of our children is the top priority.
The term Safeguarding encompasses a wide range of aspects and everyone at Tameside Primary Academy who comes into contact with children has the responsibility to reinforce it. We work to provide a safe environment for every child and to ensure that they are safeguarded from maltreatment and impairment of their health or development. At Tameside there is a Designated Safeguarding Lead who has years of experience in this field across a number of settings. Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust also has an outstanding safeguarding team that holds responsibility for all of the schools within the Trust. Working alongside Tameside, the Trust will strive to ensure that families are supported when needed and that children feel that when they come to school, they are coming to a safe, nurturing environment. Both Safeguarding and Child Protection are about ensuring every child has the best possible chance to achieve and to try to remove as many barriers as possible. We ensure our staff are trained in a multitude of safeguarding areas such as: Domestic Violence and Abuse Support, Female Genital Mutilation, Forced Marriage and Honour Based Abuse, Child Sexual Exploitation and many others.
