Principal’s Blog – January 2022

Where did that half term go? The children have as industrious as ever, working hard to catch up and enjoy their learning. I’m very proud of each and every one of them.

We opened our well-being room in school. I’m sure you’ll agree that it looks quite stunning. It helps our pupils immensely. The children of Tameside showed great humility and compassion too by helping to create a wonderful Remembrance garden on the front of school to commemorate our fallen heroes.

The children of Year 6 went on a residential visit to Plas Gwynant where the children worked on Teamwork and also how to be more independent. Wonderful memories were made and key lessons learnt.

We also had a visit from Paralympian and inspirational figure, Arron Phipps. Not only has he won gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics, he has also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro- on his hands! What a legend and hero. Please take time to research his wonderful achievements.

Reception and Year 1 went to the Hippodrome to see Dear Santa and had workshops in school making puppets. A great opportunity to see alive performance at the theatre. The children even had a visit from the man himself… Father Christmas! Year 5 had a visit from a group to support in their E3L topic, Bloodhound, where they designed and made cars so compete against each other. They felt the need for speed! We had  climbing wall for Year 6 to reinforce cooperation and let’s not forget that Reception visited Sandwell Valley. Loudmouth touring theatre company visited us in November and December to teach the children about bullying and appropriate relationships. The performances and workshops were brilliant.

We had quite a serious flood in Reception class too, but the Tameside community pulled together to minimise the damage to our children’s education. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Next term, we have lots of fun and exciting opportunities for the children to get involved in with their learning, including reading competitions with Britannica, exciting after school clubs with world class gymnasts and a residential trip for Year 4. Exciting times for the children of Tameside Primary Academy.

Thank you to all of our teachers, staff and families who support our children and school. It is very much appreciated.

Please keep up to date with everything Tameside by visiting our Facebook and Instagram page.

Thank you for your support
