Principal’s Blog – January 2019

Welcome to my first blog post as Principal of Tameside Primary Academy since we joined Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust in October 2018.

I have been working in education for almost 20 years and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them. My passion for teaching actually started when I was a pupil at primary school in Year 6 (back then it was called Class 7). I was one of the lucky few who were allowed to support in Reception and help the younger children learn. The feeling that I got when they had achieved something I had supported them with inspired me to go into teaching. It is that look of achievement that still gives me the same special feeling today.

Children are the heart and soul of any school setting and they deserve the very best; believing that nothing is impossible. Since becoming Principal at Tameside Primary Academy, this aim drives everything that I do. Fundamental to my role is to support the staff, the children and their families, helping to develop a whole-school community feel and enabling the children to be the best they can be.

Over the next year, developing improved lines of communication is an area that I want us to focus on so that families can understand our aims and our priorities for each term. We want families to feel part of the changes that happen and help us drive Tameside Primary Academy forward.

Working alongside Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust there will be many more positive changes in the weeks and months to come. I look forward to your support on this shared journey to making Tameside ‘the best it can be’ and hope you will get involved.
